SUMMER 2026

Cheese Markets – April–august 2026

The Netherlands' traditional cheese markets recreate historic cheese trading scenes, with locals dressed in traditional attire. Each market runs on its own schedule:

  • Alkmaar (Fridays, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM): March 27 to September 25, 2026, on the Waagplein. Tuesday evening markets (7:00 – 9:00 PM) also run from July 7 to August 25, 2026.

  • Gouda (Thursdays, 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM): April 2 to August 27, 2026, on the Markt (no market on May 14).

  • Edam (Wednesdays, 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM): July 1 to August 19, 2026, in front of the Kaashal at Jan van Nieuwenhuizenplein.

Holland Festival – June 3 to 28, 2026

The Holland Festival is the country's premier performing arts festival, featuring world-class opera, theater, dance, and contemporary music performances. The 79th edition welcomes Icelandic composer Hildur Guðnadóttir as associate artist, with collaborations including the Iceland Symphony Orchestra at the Concertgebouw. VIP seating, backstage access, and curated cultural experiences make this an excellent addition to an Amsterdam itinerary.

André Rieu Concerts at the Vrijthof – July 2026

The world-famous violinist André Rieu hosts his legendary annual series of outdoor concerts in Maastricht's Vrijthof Square, with 12 performances across three weekends in 2026: July 2 to 5, July 9 to 12, and July 16 to 19. These magical performances attract visitors from over 100 countries. Travelers can enjoy VIP seating, exclusive meet-and-greet opportunities, and private pre-concert dining experiences on the terrace of Theater aan het Vrijthof.

Tomorrowland in belgium – July 17–19 & July 24–26, 2026

The world's #1 electronic music festival returns to its spiritual home of De Schorre in Boom for two unforgettable weekends. Drawing 400,000 visitors from over 200 countries,

Tickets sell out within minutes, and we do not have tickets for their glamping session, but if your clients are willing to do the trip from Brussels or Antwerp, we can help!

Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps – July 17–19, 2026

The Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix returns to the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit in the Ardennes forest, drivers' favorite track, home to the iconic Eau Rouge corner, and one of seven circuits to host F1's very first championship in 1950. The 2026 edition has been moved one week earlier than usual to share the weekend with Tomorrowland, and the event organizers have launched a new "Tomorrowland x Grand Prix F1: Belgian Thrill" package combining both experiences. F1 has just signed a multi-year extension with Spa, ensuring the race remains on the calendar for four of the next six years.

WorldPride Amsterdam – July 25 to August 8, 2026

For the first time in history, Amsterdam hosts WorldPride and simultaneously EuroPride, under the theme "UNITY." This is far more than the regular annual Pride: it is a two-week, city-wide celebration marking 25 years since the Netherlands became the first country in the world to legalize civil same-sex marriage on April 1, 2001. Highlights of the 2026 program include:

  • July 25: Pride March and Pride Park kick-off at Vondelpark

  • July 31 – August 1: WorldPride street parties at 12+ locations across the city

  • August 1: The world-famous Canal Parade, with 80+ boats sailing the Prinsengracht and Amstel

  • August 4–8: WorldPride Village at Museumplein, surrounded by the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, and Concertgebouw

  • August 5–7: WorldPride Human Rights Conference at Beurs van Berlage

  • August 8: WorldPride March and Closing Concert at Museumplein

Travelers can enjoy exclusive VIP seating along the canals, private boat charters for the Canal Parade, and access to elite parties and cultural events. Demand for accommodation will be unprecedented — clients should book 12+ months in advance, particularly for hotels in the canal belt with Prinsengracht views. Sapiens Travel has curated an exclusive group departure for this occasion combining art, history, and Pride celebrations.

Grachtenfestival – 7 - 16 August 2026

The Grachtenfestival (Canal Festival) is the largest classical music and jazz festival in the Netherlands. The 29th edition, themed "Flow," features approximately 150 concerts across more than 90 unique venues — from the Royal Palace on Dam Square and the ARTIS Planetarium to floating stages on the canals and rooftops. Sofia Linde is the 2026 Artist in Residence. Travel advisors should consider front-row seating on a private boat for the famous Prinsengrachtconcert, or VIP concert tickets at the Concertgebouw and Muziekgebouw for discerning clients.

Brussels Flower Carpet – August 13–16, 2026

Every two years, Brussels' UNESCO-listed Grand-Place transforms into a breathtaking floral masterpiece: a 70m × 24m carpet composed of nearly one million begonias, hand-laid by 120 volunteers in under four hours. The 24th edition pays homage to Japan, with a new artistic fresco celebrating the cultural ties between the two nations (a return collaboration following the 2016 edition). The carpet is on display for just four days, with a spectacular sound-and-light show every evening. For the most memorable view, advisors should reserve Town Hall balcony tickets well in advance, the only way to take in the full design from above. A perfect pairing with a Bruges or Ghent extension, and with the Grachtenfestival in Amsterdam happening simultaneously, this is an exceptional week for combined Benelux itineraries.

Dutch Grand Prix – August 21–23, 2026

After five thrilling years, 2026 marks the very last Dutch Grand Prix at Circuit Zandvoort before F1 leaves the Netherlands. The farewell weekend will be more historic than ever, featuring the first-ever F1 Sprint format on Dutch soil:

  • Friday, August 21: Free Practice 1 and Sprint Qualifying

  • Saturday, August 22: Sprint Race and F1 Qualifying

  • Sunday, August 23: The final Dutch Grand Prix

The 2026 race weekend is already completely sold out through official channels. Advisors should secure hospitality packages, VIP paddock access, and private transfers via the secondary market well in advance. With the orange wave of Verstappen fans descending on the dunes for one last time, expect prices and demand to far exceed previous editions.

THIS autumn & winter 2026/2027

Yayoi Kusama at Stedelijk Museum – Sep 11, 2026 to Jan 17, 2027

A landmark retrospective of Yayoi Kusama, one of the most influential and pioneering artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, opens at Amsterdam's Stedelijk Museum on September 11, 2026. Co-organized with Fondation Beyeler (Basel) and Museum Ludwig (Cologne), the Amsterdam edition is the European finale of the touring retrospective. For collectors, design clients, and culturally curious travelers — particularly the social-media-savvy audiences from the Americas — this is a once-in-a-generation opportunity. Advisors should arrange private guided tours, after-hours access where available, and combine the visit with the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum for a full Museumplein cultural day.

Amsterdam Marathon – October 17 & 18, 2026

For active travelers, the TCS Amsterdam Marathon offers a scenic, World Athletics Platinum Label course passing iconic sites like the Rijksmuseum, Vondelpark, and the Amstel River, with start and finish in the historic 1928 Olympic Stadium. More than 2,500 designers present their work to over 350,000 visitors at 100+ locations across Eindhoven. The crown jewel is Christmas Town Valkenburg (November 13, 2026 to January 3, 2027), in the southern Limburg province, which won the 2025 awards for Best Christmas Parade in Europe and Best Christmas Market in the Netherlands. The town's famous underground markets are set inside centuries-old marlstone caves. The Gemeentegrot (Municipal Cave) hosts Europe's largest underground Christmas market, while the Fluweelengrot (Velvet Cave) reveals 18th-century murals and a historic chapel. Combine with Maastricht for a sophisticated Limburg festive escape.See the complete list with the best Christmas Markets in the Netherlands in this article.

Private evening cruises with champagne and gourmet dining provide an unparalleled way to experience the festival.

BRAFA Art Fair – January 24 to 31, 2027 (Brussels)

The 72nd edition of BRAFA, one of the world's oldest and most prestigious art fairs, welcomes over 150 galleries to Brussels Expo, with more than 72,000 collectors, gallerists, and visitors expected over the eight-day event.
