Our recent site inspection at Hotel De L’Europe Amsterdam provided an in-depth look at a property that has been a symbol of Amsterdam's luxury since 1896. Notably, the hotel was recognized as the best in Amsterdam by Condé Nast in 2024, a well-deserved accolade that reflects its enduring commitment to excellence—congratulations to the team!

The Hotel in a Nutshell

Hotel De L’Europe boasts 107 rooms and suites, many with private terraces overlooking the iconic Amstel River, offering guests a sense of historical grandeur in every detail. The ambiance evokes the elegance of a classic film set, immersing visitors in an atmosphere of timeless sophistication and charm. As a proud member of The Leading Hotels of the World, the property ensures a standard of luxury and service that complements its rich heritage.

Why we love Hotel De L'Europe

Central location: it is perfectly positioned in Amsterdam’s City Center, right on the Amstel River, making it an ideal base for exploring the city. Guests are just a short walk from major attractions like the Flower Market, Rembrandt Square, the Canal Ring (UNESCO Heritage) and the Nine Streets shopping district.

Renovated Grandeur with Historical Roots with the Dutch culture: owned by the Heineken family, it embodies a deep commitment to preserving Dutch heritage. Established in 1896, the hotel has maintained its historical charm while undergoing a recent multimillion-euro renovation. This meticulous update ensures that the hotel’s iconic architecture and design are enhanced with modern comforts, creating a blend of tradition and contemporary luxury. The Heineken family’s involvement ensures the hotel remains authentically Dutch, honoring its legacy while catering to modern travelers.

Two Wings for Different Styles: the property features two distinct wings, each offering a unique atmosphere. The Main Building embodies timeless luxury, with classic designs that reflect the hotel’s rich history. 't Huys, on the other hand, presents a contemporary experience, blending modern design with an artistic twist. In 't Huys, guests can explore spaces influenced by local culture and creativity, giving them a choice between traditional luxury and a more contemporary, artistic vibe. This dual-wing setup allows guests to choose the style of accommodation that best suits their taste.

Special touches ensure that both parents and children feel welcomed and comfortable, making De L’Europe an excellent choice for multigenerational trips or family vacations.

A Culinary Destination: The hotel’s four restaurants make it a true culinary haven. Flore, a two-Michelin-star restaurant, offers conscious fine dining, focusing on sustainable, locally sourced ingredients. Brasserie Marie serves elegant French cuisine in a casual setting, while Trattoria Graziella brings authentic Italian flavors to Amsterdam. To complete the experience, Freddy’s Bar is a must-visit for handcrafted cocktails and live music. The outdoor riverside terrace provides a unique dining experience with beautiful water views.
