The Suite Loft of the Hotel The Dylan Amsterdam

We received with joy the news that one of our favorite Amsterdam addresses has been accepted into Virtuoso’s exclusive portfolio of luxury travel partners! Congratulations to the entire team in this achievement!

For us, The Dylan Hotel is Amsterdam’s best kept secret. An independent luxury boutique hotel and member of The Leading Hotels of The World. Located in a historical building, once the first theater of Amsterdam where the painter Rembrandt worked as a production assistant.

Situated on the prestigious Keizersgracht canal in the heart of the trendy 9-streets shopping area. Every room is refined and distinctly unique, just like the hotel’s guests. Rooms are available in four different styles and combine historical features with contemporary design.

The Dylan is known for its excellent culinary offerings: 2 Michelin Star awarded Restaurant Vinkeles, informal Bar Brasserie OCCO that is famous for its “High Wine”, a fun take on High Tea and at.é, Amsterdam's smallest fine dining restaurant serving just 6 guests each night. The secluded garden, with quintessential Dutch architecture, is a true hidden gem in the center of Amsterdam. All principal museums are walking distance from the hotel.

Why we love this hotel

  • History and sense of place: Formed from historic canal houses around a tranquil courtyard, with roots that reach back to 1632 when it was the the first theather in Amsterdam, designed by the famous architect Jacob van Campen, who late designed the Royal Palace. Rembrandt was a regular visitor to the theatre and passed through today’s surviving Van Campen gate. His fascination with staging and dramatic lighting grew in these rooms and you can feel that theatrical spirit in Amsterdam’s most famous canvas, The Night Watch, now at the Rijksmuseum.

  • Located in the heart of the canal district: Ideal for browsing the Nine Streets, shopping local and pausing by the water when the light turns gold. From here it is easy to move around all parts of the city on foot or bicycle.

  • Authentic and Caring: As an independent boutique, the hotel keeps service personal and full of character while holding quality as the rule. Fun fact: the hotel has two rooftop bee colonies cared for by a certified team member. Early harvests have begun to sweeten breakfast at OCCO and inspire the bar. It supports pollinators in the canal district and gives guests a clear taste of place.

  • Restaurants: Vinkeles and até set the tone, OCCO keeps things lively all day, and locals are regulars. A strong table is part of the stay.

Who is the perfect client

Culinary travellers who plan days around kitchens and markets. Design minded couples who like quiet rooms and strong service. Small families with teens who want culture within walking range. Executives seeking an intimate buyout or a focused offsite. Weekend city breakers who want museum access, canal time and a great table each night.

Good to know

There is no spa. The hotel invests in its three dining experiences instead. Vinkeles holds 2 Michelin stars. Since it is settled in historical buildings, some venues are not accessible with a wheelchair. Sapiens has great deals with the hotel, make sure to reach us on
